The Field Service Technician (FST) serves the customer by providing mechanical and electrical engineering services during plant installation. Provide training to installation crew and customers’ personnel. Assist with the assembly and testing of the batch plants. The FST is responsible for promoting and providing company products or services in a variety of locations. They act as a liaison between organization and customers to increase brand loyalty. In addition, they must possess strong communication abilities to ensure customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical field support for company products by assessing sites and/or delivering or managing equipment installation.
- Resolve maintenance and operational issues in the field by performing troubleshooting procedures.
- Ensure company and industry regulations are followed.
- Create effective technical service reports and develop strong partnerships with customers.
- Manage complex projects across different regions or states.
- Work in-house as needed, answering service calls and resolving issues.
- Contribute to the team effort by supporting the business as directed.
- Deciphers and understands electrical and mechanical blueprints.
- Understands metric measurements and conversions.
- Proficient with computers and basic operating programs including AutoCAD.
- Communicates well with co-workers and clients and can communicate technical information to clients.
Requirements:
- Must work well under deadlines and have excellent problem-solving skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent is needed for this position. Technical Degree preferred.
- Experience in leading projects and in training field staff.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and respond well to time constraints.
- Strong communication skills and customer service.
- Able to multi-task and respond to frequent telephone and e-mail requests.
- Must be familiar with the use of spreadsheets and word documents.
- Field experience and travel required.
- Excellent knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
